Perry Marshal Newsletter Best Yet !

May 28th, 2007

I almost never watch TV.

It’s a stupendous waste of time. Who knows how many hundreds of millions of people squander the most productive days and years of their discretionary time, hypnotized by a stupid little box in their living room. Their life ebbs away 30 minutes at a time, minutes mostly better spent doing something (almost anything) else.

[The problem, by the way, all begins with giving a TV set the most prime real estate in the house, literally arranging furniture and lifestyle and family around it. Kinda hard to manage your life when the TV is actively competing on a minute-by-minute basis.]

Obviously I’m kind of tuned out to entire swaths of pop culture. But so far as I can tell, I’m not missing much.

Donald Trump’s Apprentice show was a welcome exception, however. We didn’t watch it live, but being generally tuned out anyway we had no idea who the winner was, and after the first season was over we got the DVD’s and watched the whole thing over Christmas break. It was fantastic.

Yes, at times it was a bit contrived, and from one season to the next the conflict between contestants seemed to get more and more tabloid. But for the most part, the assignments Trump gave the contestants were acid tests of wit, skill, planning and salesmanship. Watching that show sharpened my mind and Laura loved it just as much as I did.

The ever-daring Joel Comm is following suit with a reality show of his own: The next Internet Millionaire. He’s taking applications right now and once it commences, his faculty (which includes myself) will create challenging assignments which will be broadcast via streaming video over the summer. Watch the launch video and apply here:

Enjoy the adventure.

P.S.: I dare you - if your TV is in the middle of the living area of your house, move it to your basement and LIBERATE yourself. Do it now.

 The Trapezoidal Window !
PURPOSE: Classic depth illusion.
DESCRIPTION: The trapezoidal window is rotated at about one revolution per two seconds by an electric motor in the box. When the taller side rotates away from us, it appears to reverse direction and rotate toward us.
Everyone knows that any object appears to get smaller as it moves away and bigger as it moves toward you. Mind over matter!
In the fall of 1963 I attended a convention in Miami Beach Fla.
The Key note speaker was Dr. S I Hayakawa Author Language in Thought and Action a book on semantics by Samuel Ichiye Hayakawa in consultation with Leo Hamalian and Geoffrey Wagner. It was originally published in 1939; its Library of Congress catalog number is 64-10333.! Dr. Hayakawa and, Carl Rogers who was an influential American psychologist, who, along with Abraham Maslow, was the founder of the humanist approach to psychology. These men and Anatole Rapeport
A Mathematical Biologist were very active in the International Society of General Semantics !
Prisoner’s Dilemma (Paperback)
by Anatol Rapoport (Author), Albert M. Chammah (Author)

We have added to Marshal’s Corner many Social Networks !

possibly be interesting and informative ! Remember all my posts are opinion
and subject to debate ! The Social Network is a wonderful idea and may
be the best item introduced to the world wide web ! Many have wonderful
groups filled with interesting content ! I know we have not covered them all
please mail me your favorite we will review it for posting ! Now what does this have to do with “ Hayakawa,Rogers, and Rapeport !

In psychology and the cognitive sciences,
perception is the process of acquiring, interpreting, selecting, and organizing sensory information. The word perception comes from the Latin perception-, percepion, , meaning “receiving, collecting, action of taking possession, apprehension with the mind or senses.” –

Great Sandwich

May 10th, 2007

Great Sandwich-Post from-Japan
The Athletic Diet !

Did you guys ever hear about the sandwich ‘La Coronario’? I first tried one down in Quetzaltenengo a few decades back. First you take two pieces of bread fry both sides with butter or lard (like a grilled cheese sandwich). Take two or three slabs of Kuroge beef from Japan (also fried in butter), a chop of mutton (remove the bones, of course), an entire chunk of foie gras and one leaf of lettuce and put these ontop of one of the slices. Add Limburger cheese and four table spoons of mayonaise. Sandwich between the other butter-soaked slice of bread. I’d also advise seasoning with a dash of parsley or oregeno—not too much, however, for they can be overwhelming flavors. This is a damn good sandwich. I lived on these for six months during my Tae Kwon Do training in Pusan a few years back.
